Curmudgeoning all games equally.

GameSpot recently changed how their site handles reviews. Among other things, the 0.1 granularity in scores is gone. Tonight they reviewed the PS3 game Super Stardust HD and the page I got came up with a score of 0.0. Here's the screenshot:
Looks like the system needs a little work guys. Although, if the score stays at 0.0, I'll at least give them credit for sticking it to (what appears to be) a copy-cat game with a thick layer of eye candy. (Of course, by the time you read this, they will probably have updated the page to show the correct score...)

I'd say all games are copycat games.

Super Stardust is a great game for $8... and it's fun enough to last... and challenging enough to make you keep trying... without being difficult for the sake of being difficult.

YMMV, of course... but I love it...

The reskin of their reviews was basically a yawner. There's one really big thing they could have done, at least for 360 games, and that's require the reviewers to post their gamertag so we can see how little of the game they actually played before writing the reviews.

as an example, on one of the sites, IGN I think it was it said something about career mode in forza taking about 20 hours to complete. I suspect that if you went and looked at the leaderboards and added up the best time posted on every race in career mode, the hypothetical 'best racer in the world' would take about 50 hours just in the time in the races themselves, and most people will take about 70.

There's simply no way that the reviewer played the game more than about an hour and wrote that. So knowing that now, I can discount everything in it. But without disclosure we can't tell that ahead of time.

It isn't a copycat game, it is one of the finest arcadey pieces of DLC ever. I have it, it is great.

Is this turning into unfounded-complaint-gamer?

...you clearly want it to be non sequitur gamer.
