Ha! Nintendo doesn't GBASP me on the DS!
My wonderfully tolerant wife bought me a beautiful black Game Boy Advance for Christmas of 2002. Oh, how I adored that little machine.

Then in January 2003, Nintendo announced the Game Boy Advance SP ... with backlight! Oh, how I burned. In fact, I Afterburned, and I got over it. I still adore my little GBA.

Then a few weeks ago, I almost snapped up a Nintendo DS Lite. Oh, sure, I'd've rather had a black one. I'm not a fan of white, there were the complaints of hinge cracks, but I could live with it. Then I got busy and didn't have time.

Today, Nintendo announces they'll be putting out a black (Onyx...whatever) Nintendo DS Lite on 13 September 2006.

Ha! You didn't get me this time, Nintendo. I'm still going to give you all my money, yes, but I will at least get the color I wanted!

Well actually, they'll just finally be giving us North Americans the black one that has been available in the rest of the world since day one... Maybe Nintendo thinks that we are the only people in the world who will buy the white one immediately because we have to have it right away, and then buy the black one later because it is black?

I thought they were region free? You could just import one of the more colorful ones that have been available for a while overseas (with the associated premium, of course). I may have to pick up an Onyx one myself...to go with my blue one? I don't even pretend to understand my own buying habits when it comes to videogames and associated hardware.

I think I should adopt this policy. The closest I can come is that it's genetic -- my Dad has his own buying habits that I don't understand, and in some ways they mirror my own.

Nice picture, neil.

It's all part of a -- no, *the* -- communist plot, obviously.

My wife likes to say that half of the games give men/boys/XYs a way to "play Barbie", half the time with virtual Barbie dolls, no less (TR, DOA, Soul Caliber, VF, RE, etc). I catch heck for GTA:SA and WoW, even, and not too long ago caught it for looking at uniform options in NCAA 07.

The capitalists are turning everyone into metrosexuals, which is, as I said, exactly what the communists knew they'd do. Castro isn't sick. He's waiting right outside of the White House as the plan reaches fruition.
