While I still find myself daydreaming about playing the PlayStation 2 or my GBA, I hardly ever long for the PSP. Except for Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee and Ridge Racer -- hardly titles that will sell the system to the masses -- the PSP has never evoked my addiction response.
I think it was a silly idea to go for UMD in the first place - I mean, seriously... WHY?
Thanks to Gigabyte Memsticks, HDDs and whatnot there is no reason to watch UMDs, you can watch all the DivX stuff and porn (actually, on the few PSPs I saw so far, there has always been porn on it... what's up with that!? Should I look for new friends?) you want from your disk/memcard/whatever.
Would love to see the PSP coming out of the shadows, and finally seeing some quality gaming on it - we get the Metal Slug Collection (which is pure awesomeness - but it's also basically a retro-collection) - but what else?
As a gaming device, the PSP is a complete failure SO FAR - I actually had more fun with the Atari Lynx than with the PSP. And that is plain sad.
In other news... the GBA still reigns supreme!
Anyone looking for an addictive PSP game should check out Need For Speed Most Wanted 5-1-0. I haven't played anything else for 2 weeks now, including Hot Shots.
